Open Research
is a living archive.

’25

Each entry is a work in progress, combining writing, sketches, typography, hand lettering, illustration, and sound. Some works are made in collaboration with AI, some by hand, some through a combination of both.
This is not a gallery of finished pieces. It is a studio wall where research, visual exercises, and experimental ideas accumulate over time.

Essays might be accompanied with ambient music. Typographic explorations might be interactive. You might see a motion study or a visual language for a new product idea. These works in progress invite others to respond, remix, or reinterpret.
Every artifact, from film photography to a working prototype, is part of a multidisciplinary and modular process. Open Research values this human work in process.

It highlights the connection between disciplines, the overlap of work and play, and the natural framework behind each idea.
The archive grows in public, shaped by feedback, collaboration, and the open sharing of methods and materials.

This is a space for ongoing exploration. For anyone curious about the systems, rhythms, and connections that make creative work feel more human.

Work and Play, is a multidisciplinary design practice by Ryan Lawrence. It is built on rhythm. Between intention, and intuition. Between refinement, and experimentation. Between work, and play.

Design in sections. Create modular systems that allow ideas to scale, adapt, and stay true over time. Everything that is made is built to last-visually, and structurally.

The work is efficient, but not rushed. Simple,
but not empty. Timeless design isn't about aesthetics. It's about being considered.

Work and Play is more than a design practice. It's how one thinks, builds, and collaborates while being open, focused, and made for human connections.

If you want to connect, please feel free to reach out, and say hello.
