The Green Knight
“The Green Knight” is an epic fantasy adventure film based on the timeless Arthurian legend “Sir Gawain and the Green Knight.” The trailer was narrated by Ralph Ineson, the Green Knight himself. Art direction and design lead for a theatrical film trailer that comprised of visual explorations, type treatments, and motion design.
The film was directed by visionary filmmaker David Lowery, and stars Dev Patel, Alicia Vikander, Joe Edgerton, Sarita Choudhury, Sean Harris and featuring Ralph Ineson as the Green Knight.

The overall visual design took inspiration from typography from early medieval manuscripts, and hand-drawn lettering.
Because the original poem is rich with historic and complex themes, the trailer took on an unconventional approach from the traditional theatrical trailer. The long form trailer acts as like a history lesson, a precursor for audiences unfamiliar with the story. This project displayed a collaborative approach between art directors, writers, editors, motion designers, and the music team.

In addition, a product marketing video was made for an original tabletop roleplaying gameinspired by the upcoming fantasy film. The short was shot, and edited in the style of a retro 80’s ad made for VHS. It was color-treated, and featured hand-drawn animation techniques for both the visual effects, and title design.
